James Selvan Lute

James Selvan Lute, better known as Jim, of Circleville, passed away May 8th 2018 at his home at the age of 80 years. Born July 29, 1937, in Scioto County Ohio, as the first of 3 children to Velma Lute-Parker (formerly Williams) and Tracy M Lute, he spent his youth being a role model to his 2 younger sisters after their fathers untimely death at an early age. I learned through all of this that on Friday's he would bring one bottle of pop home after getting paid as a treat and him, his mom, and 2 sisters would all share it. Always giving, never taking. That was Jim. He once told me that he ran around the country side barefoot so much, he had to put rocks in his shoes when school was back in session to get used to wearing them again. He was an honest man, but I don't know if that story is true. In fact, often while fishing he also would take me snipe hunting and tell me I had to be quiet to catch them...I later found out that snipes weren't real and it wasn't just because I wouldn't stay quiet that I never caught one.

He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Carolyn Lute (formerly Addis), on March 16, 1957 and moved to Dayton where they had 2 children (Tim & Theresa) and later a grandchild from each. He loved the outdoors and some of his best moments were fishing w/ the different generations of the family. He worked hard to provide for his family, first at a shoe store, followed by Gregory Stone and eventually at North Star Concrete (formerly Price Brothers Inc) where he retired.

Even after retirement, he was always looking for something to do and wanted to be outdoors. Taking care of his family was still his favorite hobby but when he could he would get away and spend time hunting, fishing, or 4 wheeling with friends. The latter one not so much as he got older. He was preceded in death by his father, then later in life by his mother, step father, step brother and son. He is survived by his wife, daughter, 2 full sisters, 1 half-brother, 1 half-sister, 1 step brother, 1 step sister, many nieces and nephews, grandson, granddaughter and her 3 kids, his great grand children who will all miss him dearly. Gone but not forgotten.

Services will be held at Church of Christ in Christian Union (Kingston Living Water) 20 3rd Street, Kingston, OH 45644 on Friday May 11th at 1:00 PM. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston. Condolences can be made on James’ online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.

I offer my deepest condolences for the family. I had the the pleasure of caring for Mr. Lute. I will miss his upbeat smiling face along with Carolyn during our visits. It seemed like we were just visiting and catching up more than an office visit. I feel blessed to have known Mr. Lute and Carolyn. I am so sorry for your loss.
