Sherry Lynn (Congrove) Mitchell

    Sherry Lynn (Congrove) Mitchell, 52, of Laurelville, was carried by her Good Shepherd and entered into Heaven peacefully on April 21, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a brief battle with cancer. All the while whispering in her ear “well done good and faithful servant, today you will be with me in paradise!” She was born on July 9, 1971, in Logan, the daughter of the late James Congrove and Carolyn (Danner) Hunter, who survives.

    Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Jesus Mitchell; beloved daughter, Kayla (Aaron) Schwalbauch, of Kingston; mother, Carolyn (Glenn) Hunter; step-children, Lilianna Mitchell, Malachi Mitchell, and Eli Mitchell; grandchild, Rocky Schwalbauch; sister, Jeanette (Heath) Cox; special niece, Andrea Liff; canine companions, Bella and Buster; and numerous other special family members and friends whom she cherished.

    In addition to her father, Sherry was preceded in death by her infant son, Bryan Gray. Sherry was a 1989 graduate of Zane Trace High School.

    She never once wavered through unbelief but believed that His promises were true. Her short battle with cancer (which was a word we were never afraid of) shows His mercy and love He had for her and her commitment to Him. We were blessed to live a full life up to the last, even taking 7 mile hikes just this past December. And not once in the last four months did she complain or even indicate that she was in any pain. His presence was evident to all from the moment we received the diagnosis and it never diminished! His presence, grace and mercy were also evident and constant in her life. She loved fearlessly, gave generously, worshiped quietly but continually, prayed fervently, and believed confidently!

    Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Pastor James Vandagriff and Chaplain Jeremy Schinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Hill’s.
