Daniel “Dennie” Ray Vickers

Daniel “Dennie” Ray Vickers, 52, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 9, 1965, in Columbus, the son of the late James and Olive (Fisher) Evans and late Joann Irish. On September 28, 2006 in St. Lucia, he was united in marriage with his loving wife, Leslie Ann (Maughmer) Vickers, who survives.

Dan is also survived by his daughter, Heather Nicole Vickers, of Columbus; grandchildren, Jaddan Matthew Gilmore and Jrayke Owen Vickers; sister, Jody Irish, of Columbus; and countless special friends and coworkers.

Dan was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease, in January 2015. He fought courageously and won his battle on April 6, 2018.

Dan grew up in Unionville Center, OH.  He attended Fairbanks High School and graduated from Tolles Technical Center in 1985. He worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist for Kenworth Truck Company for 23 years. Dan enjoyed several activities including spending time with friends and family, traveling, jet skiing, four wheeling, "wrenching and tinkering", and attending car shows.  Dan's favorite hobby was restoring and driving classic Chevy and GMC trucks.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations made to PROJECT MAIN ST. (244 Fifth Avenue, Suite #2417, New York, NY 10001) or on their website at projectmainst.org. Project Main St. provides financial assistance to individuals diagnosed with ALS. Dan was a recipient of this grant.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to friends and family that have helped and supported Dan through this time. A special thanks to caregivers Tamara Jacobs, Lisa McCloy, Abby Archer and the Heartland Hospice Team.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Pastor Craig Reichert officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 – 6 p.m. at Hill’s. Condolences can be made on Dan’s online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.

Heartfelt prayers to the Family. Though many, many years have passed since last I spent time with Denny, (yes, I always spelled it with a "y"), I cherish the memories of my cousins and the special bond we had as kids. May somehow those close to him find comfort in fond memories and knowing he is at peace now. God Bless, Candy

Jeff Parkison and family.

I am sorry to hear of Dan passing away , he was a great fun loving guy ! It was a privilege to have known him from kenworth and back through the old "BMY" days .
Through the sadness this brings , there is some comfort in knowing that when it came to family , friends and fun - Danny was always ready to raise the bar !!! If there is a little bit of mud in heaven , I'm sure he will find it ...! Our prayers are with your family ...
Lesley & Heather , you are his ANGELS !!
