Larry E. Elkins
Larry E. Elkins, 79, of Laurelville, entered into Heaven on October 11, 2020 at Adena Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 28, 1941, the son of the late Lem and Rebecca (Finley) Elkins. On July 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Mary (Harper) Elkins, who survives.
Larry is also survived by his beloved children, Lawrence “Boob” (Tammy) Elkins, Karen (Mark) Elkins, Mike (Suzanne) Elkins, Chris (Mary) Elkins, and Sharon (Chuck) Karshner; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Harold) Tipton; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Allene Ross, Bill Elkins, Peggy Newman, Betty Peters, and Jr. Elkins; and grandchild, Tara Lowery.
Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a construction laborer and logged timber over the years. Larry was also a talented musician, including playing guitar, which he enjoyed with and passed onto the next generation of his family. He will be missed dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Community Church (15290 OH-327, Laurelville, OH 43135) with Pastor Cliff Harber and Pastor James Vandagriff officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Laurelville with military honors provided by the Ross County Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston, with visitors maintaining social distancing and wearing face coverings.
