Karen Baugh Obituary

Karen Amy (Morton) Baugh

Karen Amy (Morton) Baugh, 52, of Hallsville, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 26, 1968, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Ralph Morton, who survives, and the late Charlotte (Biggs) Morton. On June 12, 2001, she was united in marriage, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with her loving husband, Ronald “Bill” Baugh, who survives.

Karen is also survived by her beloved children, Katie Cartee (Caleb) Wright, Tyler (Lacey) Hinty, Matthew (Danni) Baugh, and Ashley Toombs; grandchildren, Abram and Elam Wright, Nolan Shreve, Charlotte Hinty, and Blake Baugh; brother, Steve (Lynn) Morton; niece, Whitney Morton (Steve) Cook; and numerous other special family members and friends whom she cherished.

Karen was a graduate of Southeastern High School Class of 1986, graduated with honors with her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ohio University, and earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Marygrove College. Karen worked as an educator at Zane Trace Local Schools for over 20 years. Karen was a loving mother, wife, GiGi as her grand babies called her, and teacher. She cherished her time with her family, especially her grand babies, and enjoyed riding their motorcycle with Bill. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and reading. She was passionate about teaching and observing the progress made by her students over a school year brought her such joy. After receiving the diagnosis of a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer, Karen was motivated to share her story and raise awareness about the importance of routine preventative screenings.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating.
