James Edward Woodson
James Edward Woodson, 87, of Walhonding, passed away on July 23, 2020 at Logan Elm Healthcare, Circleville, after an extended illness. He was born on July 8, 1933 in Lost Creek, West Virginia, the son of the late Claude Everett and Cleo Maude (Rice) Woodson.
James is survived by his daughter; Deborah Ferguson (Terry Ward); grandchildren, Meggan (Brian) Pritchard and Melissa Carroll (Jeremy Murray); great-grandchildren, Hope, Colton, Lily, Hunter, Zander, Benson, Neil, Ruthie, Isaac, and Naquila; brother, Kenneth Woodson; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Evelyn (Stirrup) Woodson; daughter, Jennifer E. Brown and six brothers.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a flight engineer. He was a teacher of electric at Pickaway-Ross Vocational School, an Awana leader, was active in Habitat for Humanity and contributed to the creation of the Pay It Forward Program at Riverview High School.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 12:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. Lynn Summers officiating and military honors performed by the Ross County Veteran's Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Hill’s.
