Daniel Lee Vollmar
Daniel Lee Vollmar, 79, of Kingston, passed away on March 13, 2022. He was born on January 24, 1943, to the late Walter and Rosalie Vollmar in Chillicothe, Ohio. On March 19, 1963, he married Jane (Davis) Vollmar, who survives.
Dan is also survived by their three sons: Chad (Kathy Flechtner), Lew (Laura), and Matt; grandchildren: Trey (Mariel), Haylee (Jevan), Dalton, Abby, Dillon, Ashtyn, Ally and Taylor; and great-grandchildren: Bentlee, Ella and Jax; his brother, Rick (Mary) Vollmar; brothers-in-law, Lee (Elaine) Davis, Larry Davis and Carmi (Speed) Jones; and several special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Leo and Helen Davis; and his sisters, Barb Smith and Janet Jones.
Dan graduated from Kingston High School in 1961 and was a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Agriculture. Dan was a teacher and coach for many years. He began his teaching and coaching career at Smith Junior High in the early 1970s. In the mid-70s, he went to Zane Trace High School where he taught Vo-Ag classes and enjoyed coaching football. Dan was responsible for starting the Zane Trace FFA Sausage Breakfast and the Zane Trace Adult Farmers. He was a member of the Logan Elm Masonic Lodge #624, Kingston.
Dan enjoyed farming and working with his many assorted horses and other animals at Hobby Horse Farm. He was known as the “Candy Man” to many because of the famous Peanut Brittle he made each winter.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Pastor Greg Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Hill’s.
At Dan’s request, there will be NO TIES worn at his funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Green Township Fire Department (P.O. Box 700, Kingston, OH 45644). Condolences can be made on Dan’s online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
