Charles Boyd Hardin, DVM
Charles Boyd Hardin, DVM, 87, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born on October 4, 1935, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, to the late John Boyd and Josephine (Tisher) Hardin.
He attended elementary school in Hannibal, Kingston, Pickaway, and graduated in 1953 from Ashville-Harrison High School in Ashville, Ohio. After graduation, he was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. He completed his education and graduated from The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine on June 12, 1959. On June 20, 1959, he united in marriage with Marian Elizabeth Peters and they started his practice in Kingston, Ohio.
Dr. Hardin and Marian had three children: son, Kent Charles Hardin, and his wife, Susanne Lamb Hardin; son, Jeffrey Blaine Hardin; and daughter, Erin Vanover, and her husband, Brock Vanover. He also left behind eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Hardin served the farm community for over 25 years and continued the small animal clients in Pickaway, Ross, and Hocking counties for 57 years before retiring in 2010.
Per his wishes, Dr. Hardin’s remain will be donated to the Department of Anatomy and College of Medicine at The Ohio State University for educational use. Cremation will be performed with burial at Reber Hill Cemetery at a later date. No public visitation will be held at the request of Dr. Hardin. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Hardin’s honor to any animal charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston.
