Wanda L. Self Kitchen
Wanda Kitchen, 84, of Circleville, passed away March 30, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born March 1, 1929 the daughter of late Ralph and Jessie (Hollis) Self. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Dusty Allen and infant sister, June; sisters, Grace (Homer) Holcomb, and Beulah (William) Brookover.
Wanda had managed the Kingston Building and Loan. She was employed at Equitable Savings and Loan (Lancaster and Circleville) and served as supervisor for the Pickaway County Health Dept. She belonged to O.E.S. and was a past Worthy Matron Evergreen Chapter, Adelphi, and past Deputy Grand Matron. She also belonged to Kingston Chapter, Kingston, OH where she served as organist for several years. She attended Adelphi United Methodist Church and was active as part-time organist and taught Sunday school. For 31 years every Christmas Eve she preformed a monologue, The Innkeeper's Wife.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 63 ½ years, Robert "Bob" Kitchen; daughter, Amy Marie (Charles) Powell, Gallipollis: grandson, Dr. Sean F. Gibbs (Dr. Christa M. Velos) Seneca, Il; and like a grandson, Pete Velos, Sleepy Hollow, Il; sister, Edmona (Dale) Hartley, Chillicothe: brother-in-law, J. Denny Kitchen (Bill), Circleville; sister-in-law, Katherine Kitchen, Chillicothe; and several loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wed April 3, 2013 at Hill Funeral Home, Kingston with Pastor Brian Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. Family and friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Online registry at hillfhkingston.com.
