Virginia Kathryn Thimmes
Virginia Kathryn Thimmes, 93, of Chillicothe, entered into Heaven on January 27, 2018 at Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 7, 1924, in Adelphi, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Nungster) Thimmes.
Virginia is survived by her nieces and nephews, David Graves, Hayward Graves, Dale (June) Rogers, Betty Thurston, Diane Runkle, Steve (Lynn) Smith, Brenda (Marc) Minehart, Sheila (Sonny) Dean, Sandy (Ty) Hinton, Marvin Thimmes, Cindy (Duke) Rutter, and Ernie (Linda) Adams; numerous special great, great-great, and great great great-nieces and nephews; and special neighbors, Noakie and Betty Tisdale.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by siblings, Eugene Thimmes, Gladys Leasure, Dolly Graves, Myrtle Bowen, Nina Rogers, and Ellen Smith, and nieces and nephews, Evelyn Hopper, Virginia Ree Cydrus, Mildred Ricketts, Georgia Hardesty, Richard Smith, Joyce Elick, and Lester Thimmes.
Virginia retired from the Mead Paper Company and was a member of the Local Laborers 731. She was a member of the Hilltop Mission Church, Chillicothe, and she was also a volunteer for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry for many years . She loved to fish and spent many years fishing at Lake Erie. She was a wonderful cook and baker who loved spending time with her family and solving word search puzzles. Virginia will be remembered for her passion for helping others. The family would like to thank Adena Hospital staff and hospice for their compassionate care during Ginny's illness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. James Vandagriff and Rev. Jared McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 – 7 p.m. at Hill's. Condolences can be made on Virginia's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
