Ruth E. (Sowers) Henderson

Ruth E. (Sowers) Henderson, 93, of Adelphi, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 2, 2024 at Brown Memorial Nursing Home, Circleville.  She was born October 27, 1930, in Vinton County, the daughter of the late Theodore Sowers and Sarah (Shively) Sowers.  On February 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Paul "Bub" Henderson, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2010.  During their time together, they enjoyed many years operating Henderson Sales Hardware in Adelphi, mushroom hunting in Tar Hollow State Park, and roaming the countryside in their 1940 Chevy.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Judy (Dave) Unger, Laurelville; son, Terry Henderson, Westerville; grandchildren, Tracy (Jennifer) Unger, Heidi (Donovan) Ward, Heather Henderson, and Zoe Henderson; great-grandchildren, Caleb Henderson, Devin (Jay) Delgado, Katie (Dillon) Lusk, Hannah Unger, and Shelby Ward; great-great-grandchildren, Maddy and Gracie Lusk and Jameson Delgado; and brothers, Otis Sowers and Harry (Judy) Sowers.  Ruth is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Freddie Tatman, Rita Tatman, Kenny Salyers, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was predeceased by daughter-in-law, Carole Henderson; brothers, Raymond Sowers, Eugene Sowers, Eldon Sowers, and Harold Sowers; sister, Louise Thurston; sisters-in-law, Wylodeen and Edna Sowers; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin (Anne) Arledge, Harold (Phyllis) Tatman, Gene (Rebecca) Tatman, Marjorie Salyers, Ray Tatman, Marcella (Ronnie) Parker, Audrey (Gary) Brown, and Janet (Carl) Hedges.

The family would like to thank Brown Memorial Nursing Home for the excellent care Ruth received in her final days.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. James Vandagriff officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00  p.m. until the time of the service at Hill's.
