Ruth Laverna (McWhorter) Atwood

Ruth Laverna (McWhorter) Atwood, 80, of Chillicothe, passed away on December 12, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 18, 1936, the daughter of the late Harold and Ersa (Clipner) McWhorter. On November 12, 1954, she married her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Atwood Jr., who preceded her in death in June 2016.

She is survived by her children, Robert (CJ) Atwood III, of Columbus, Connie (Jim) Richardson, of Chillicothe, and Terry Haubeil, of Chillicothe; sister, Irene Graves; granddaughters, Nikki (Jason) Sitko and Andi Atwood; grandsons, Bobby Atwood, Jeffrey (Lauren) Haubeil, Bruce (Tammy) Walter, and Jimmy Richardson; great-grandchildren, Helen Sitko, Jeffrey Haubeil, and Casie, Kaitlynn, and Kayla Richardson; and one great-great-grandchild, Autumn Maye and Chloee.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Wallace, Wayne, and Otis McWhorter. Ruth loved spending time with her family and her role as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Private graveside services have taken place at Rowland Cemetery with Rev. James Vandagriff officiating. Services have been entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston.
