Roger Fiske Chapin Jr.
Roger Fiske Chapin Jr., of Kingston, passed from this life on March 3, 2025 at the age of 95. He was born on July 30, 1929, in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Roger and Francis (Glover) Chapin Sr.. Roger grew up as a small child in Boston but spent most of his childhood in Niantic, Connecticut. He was studying at the Rhode Island School of Design when he was called to the Korean War. He proudly served in the United States Marines in the 1st Marine Division in Korea. Afterwards, he graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design in 1955. He went on to work for Ford as a designer for one year before accepting a job with Westinghouse, Columbus, where he worked for 27 years.
In May 1956, Roger sat behind JoAnne Ross in church and it was love at first sight. On October 20, 1956, they were united in marriage and they had 68 loving years together. When Westinghouse moved out of state in 1981, the couple decided to move to the Ross Family Farm instead of going with the company.
Roger was a very talented pastel artist and woodworker. He was a member of several art leagues in Southern Ohio, including the Chillicothe Art League, and he won many awards for his artwork. He was also a member of Pump House Art Gallery, Kiwanis, Farm Bureau Boards, but his church was always number one.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne Ross Chapin; two sons, Ross (Melissa) Chapin and Scott (Cheryl) Chapin; four grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Erin, and Brett; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished. The family would like to sincerely thank their wonderful neighbors, church, and many friends for their help during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church (74 W. Main Street, Chillicothe, OH 45601) with Rev. Tom Pairan officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in White Church Cemetery, Kingston. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger's honor to the Calvary Lutheran Church or the Pump House Art Gallery. Condolences can be made on Roger's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
