Robert James Collins

Robert James Collins, 89, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2022 after an extended illness. He was born on January 15, 1933, in Londonderry, the son of the late James and Grace (Price) Collins. On March 15, 1952, he united in marriage with his loving wife, Alice L. (Chaney) Collins, who preceded him in death in 2011.

Robert is survived by his son, Charles Randy (Ronda) Collins; grandchildren, Katrina (Jeff) Haubeil, Tommy (Angie) Collier, all of Chillicothe Elonda (Jim) Matthews, of North Port, Florida, and Amy (Mike) Collins, of Gahanna; great grandchildren, Kody, Kenzie and Kelsie Haubeil and Brooke and Brayden Matthews, and Morgan Powell; brother, CD (Dot) Collins, of Englewood, FL; sister-in-law, Marlene Collins; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Collins; sister, Carol Black; and three brothers, Richard, Donald and Darrell Collins Sr.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and received a Bronze Star for his service. He retired from the International Union of Operator Engineers Local 18 and he was a member of the VFW Post 108 since 1963.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Charleston Church of the Brethren Cemetery (250 Dunkard Hill Road, Chillicothe, OH 45601) with military honors provided by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.
