Robert L. Bretz Jr.

Robert L. Bretz Jr., 82, of Circleville, passed away on August 1, 2024 at Circleville Post Acute Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on May 15, 1942, in Athens, the son of the late Robert L. and Reba (Dawson) Bretz Sr.  On October 30, 1964, he was united in marriage with his loving wife of almost 60 years, Margaret (Long) Bretz, who survives.

Robert is also survived by his beloved children, Debbie (David) DeLong, Paul (Jessica) Bretz, Glen (Kama) Bretz, and Robert (Terri) Bretz III; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, James Bretz, Anita (Steve) Roby, and Rebecca Bretz-Hatheway; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill Bretz, Danny Bretz, Howard Bretz, Shirley Matthews, and Beverly Riffle.

Robert attended Whitehall Yearling High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He retired from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation in 2000 after 30 years of service. Robert had a passion for motorcycles, was an avid OSU Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, and had a fascination with Bigfoot.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery, Hallsville, with military honors provided by Amvets Post 2256 Honor Guard, Circleville.
