Patricia C. Congrove
Patricia C. Congrove, 86, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026 at Ohio Health Hospice House in Columbus. She was born on October 28, 1939, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harrison and Carrie (Jones) Lunsford. On March 16, 1957, she united in marriage with her husband, Billy Joe Congrove, and they shared over 66 years of marriage before his death on April 25, 2023.
Patty is survived by her daughter, Linda Congrove, of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Julie (BJ) Bass, of Summerville, SC; David Congrove, of Circleville; and Bradley Congrove, of Columbus; sisters, Joyce M. Congrove, of Chillicothe, and Wilma Boyd, of Naples, FL; brothers-in-law, Roy Congrove and Dean Congrove, of Kingston; sister-in-law, Joyce E. Congrove, of Kingston; and numerous special nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her loving husband and her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her wonderful son, Michael Congrove; her in-laws, Eldon and Isabel Congrove, Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Orville and Jean Lunsford, Jake and Mary Lunsford, and Jack and Karen Lunsford; sisters and brothers-in-law, Millie and Richard Wise and Fay and Bob Widholm; brothers-in-law, Bill Boyd and Eldon Congrove; sister-in-law, Alice Congrove; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Patty was a graduate of Chillicothe High School; although, she lived and attended school in Kingston until her senior year. Patty had a long, successful career at JCPenney and retired as the office and personnel manager. She mentored many people over the years and knew just about every aspect of store operations. Her family was proud of her accomplishments.
It was at Kingston Union High School where Patty and Billy Joe met and became high school sweethearts. They remained sweethearts throughout their lives. Patty was very proud of the family that she and Billy Joe built together, their son, Mike and daughter, Linda, and their grandchildren, Julie (her husband BJ), David, and Brad. Patty also loved all of her brothers and sisters very much and her many nieces and nephews.
Patty was a wonderful cook, just like her mother, and she loved cooking for her family. We so cherish the many family dinners we shared over the years. Patty was also very thoughtful and kind. She and Billy Joe did so much for others and they were always there to help out, support, or to celebrate someone’s special day. Patty was a loving, caring, wise, trustworthy, and generous person and she was a wonderful example of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. Patty was admired and respected by everyone who knew her and deeply loved by her family.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston.
