Obituary

Michael Todd Patrick

Michael Todd Patrick, 44, of Chillicothe, lost his battle with addiction and went to be with our Lord on January 6, 2017 as the result of an accidental heroin overdose.   He was born on January 2, 1973, the son of Nita G. (Dale) Crooks and John Henry Stevens, who both survive.

Also surviving are his loving wife of 17 years, Shauna L. (Lauerman) Patrick; his daughter, MacKenna Lea Patrick; sons, Michael R. Willison and Corby N. Willison; brother, David P Douglas; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and numerous friends who loved him very much.  He was predeceased by his beloved maternal grandmother, Lois Inez (Yoakem) Patrick, a precious aunt, Joyce (Patrick) Knauff, and beloved uncle, Robert (Bob) Patrick.

Michael, or Todd as he went by, was a 1992 graduate of Paint Valley High School, where he was active and excelled in the football program. He was a part of the SVC championship teams in 89, 90 and 91.  He was All Ohio in 1991 also. He held many positions over his life, but always seemed to turn back to logging every time.

Todd was known for his fearless attitude and ability to fight whatever battle he was given.  He struggled for several years with addiction to pain pills and like so many do, fell prey to the heroin epidemic that has struck our country.  He was not proud of this and he was trying to make the turn to recovery.  Sadly, that decision came a little too late.  He was loved unconditionally by his family and they helped all they could to help him get well.

His family asks that if anyone has a loved one who is fighting addiction, please do everything possible to be supportive and guide them to rehabilitation before it's too late.  That one last time could be exactly that, the very last time.  His family is being open about this, to bring awareness to this horrible disease that has gripped our small town and our whole country.  This disease is no discriminator of persons and no one is immune.  The family is at peace knowing that Todd found the Lord and that he is now at the feet of Jesus with no more pain, no more struggles and no more demons to fight.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Zion Baptist Church ( 84 S. Clinton Rd, Chillicothe) with Pastor J. Troy Gray officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. T here will be no graveside service as Todd will be cremated. Services have been entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to aid the family with expenses.
