Obituary

Marcia Jean (Ricketts) Vandagriff

Marcia Jean (Ricketts) Vandagriff, 74, of Adelphi, left singing her way into Heaven to be with her Lord and beloved parents on December 1, 2025 at Berger Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 23, 1951, in Adelphi, the daughter of the late Oddie James and Mildred Pauline (Leasure) Ricketts. On April 10, 1971, she was united in marriage with her loving husband, Pastor James M. Vandagriff, who survives.

Marcia is also survived by her beloved daughters, Kiesha (John) Bennett and Kandra (Carl) Smith; grandchildren, Michele (Jason) Bennett, Elizabeth (Michael) Winkleman, Kelsie (Andy) Mitchell, Trevor (Makayla) Bennett, Nicole (Austin) McNichols, Korey (Taelor) Ramsay, Kelton (Jasman) Ramsay, Kollin Ramsay, and Kyle Ramsay (Bre Azbell); great-grandchildren, Jack, Ancizar, Benny, Zayden, Kross, Koralie, Henry, Kenzie, and Kaisley; brother, James "Butch" Ricketts; and numerous other family members and friends whom she cherished.

Marcia graduated in 1969 from Zane Trace "Centralia" High School and earned her Associates in Nursing (LPN) from Hocking Technical College. She spent her nursing career caring for the elderly at Laurelville Nursing Home for many years before transitioning into in-home nursing. Marcia was a strong woman of faith. She has been a member of Saltcreek Community Church for around 30 years and was saved in 2000. She loved church and ministered to others through her singing voice and organizing all the singers at the church. She also started the Penny March at Saltcreek Community Church, which helped to fund VBS. Marcia loved to travel and eat at new places such as Amish Country and Tennessee. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Saltcreek Community Church (19753 SR-56, Laurelville, OH 43135) with Rev. Leland "Buddy" Allman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston and an hour prior to the funeral service on Friday at the church.
