Lucille Irene Kelley, age 89, formerly of 11 Elm Street in Kingston, Ohio, passed away at her home at Liberty Village, in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Monday, April 2, 2012. Lucille was born January 13, 1923, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Chester and Wilda (Nolte)
Porter. On October 31, l943 she married Carson Kelley, the son of Clifford and Olive (Betz) Kelley. They were blessed with two sons: Patrick Carson and Paul Dean Kelley.
Lucille is survived by her loving son Patrick of Liberty Village; sisters-in-law: Maxine Porter of Canton, Ohio; Marguerite Timmons of Chillicothe; and Mary Kelley of Columbus; and a brother-in-law, Nick (Kay) Kelley of Kingston; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members, including a special niece, Shirley (Bob) Irwin; and a dear friend, Shelby (Pete) Shaffer; and many friends to whom she was a great inspiration.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carson; son, Dean; brother, David Porter; and a special aunt, Luadah Hartman.
Lucille was a long-time member of the Kingston United Methodist Church, where she once served as pianist and choir director. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Association and the Ne Plus Altra Sunday School Class. Lucille graduated from Kingston Union High School in 1940 and retired from the Kingston Branch of The Chillicothe Ross County Public Library. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye fan. She loved to knit; and, many friends and strangers alike were recipients of her beautiful hand-made gifts.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingston United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Patmore officiating. Calling hours will be Friday, April 6, from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the church in Kingston. Services will be provided by the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston.
