Leslie Darrell Jones 

Leslie Darrell Jones, 72, of South Bloomingville, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026 at The Vineyards at Concord following an extended illness. Les was born on August 4, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, the son of the late John William “Red” and Vera Mae (Mowery) Jones. 

Les is survived by his beloved partner of 20 years, Lou Ann (Cradlebaugh) Creeden; children, Greg (Liz) Jones, of Athens, and Teri (Ricky) McCune, of New Marshfield; grandchildren, Dakota (Terri) Cummings and Tyler (Jordan) Cummings; step-grandchildren, Riley McCollister and Haley Shields; great-grandchildren, Bryson and Branson Cummings; sister, Brenda White; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished. 

Along with his parents, Les was preceded in death by his siblings, John Wesley Jones, Dennis Clifford Jones, Kathleen Rearick, and infant sisters, Linda and Nancy Louise Jones. 

Les attended Alexander High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was stationed in Germany and Colorado. Les worked as a coal miner for about 20 years with the Southern Ohio Coal (Meigs Local) and United Mine Workers Association. Les loved adventure as he always wanted to skydive and he earned his pilot’s license. He enjoyed being outdoors, bowling, and golfing. He was a member of the Laurelville Senior Citizens. He will be deeply missed. 

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Pastor Donnie Quesinberry officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Hills.
