Obituary

Kathryn May Steele Kathryn May Steele, 74 of Kingston passed away November 30, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born July 19, 1937 in Circleville, OH to the late Helen Louise Drum Metcalfe and Harry Donald Metcalfe.  She married her husband Glenn R. Steele, on October 27, 1956 in Kingston, Ohio.  They enjoyed 55 years together. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Pauline Metcalfe and brother, Donald E. Metcalf. They had five children, Deborah Louise (Charles) Pockras, Glenn Bryan Steele, Deanna Lynn Elliott, Glenda Kay (Dennis) Cornett, and Robert Oakley Steele; sisters Carolyn (Stanley) Brigner, Beverly S. Valentine; brother, Gary L. Metcalf; sister-in-laws, Betty Lowery, Mary Lou Lehman, and Donna (Charles) Hanes; grandchildren, Paul (Sarah) Good, Heath Good, Christopher Steele, Kirstin (James) Days, Katie (Josh) Smith, Kelsey Elliott, and Moriah Elisabeth Pockras; step-grandchildren, Dustin (Tammy) Cornett, and Justin Cornett. Kathryn was Salutatorian of Centralia Class of 1955, and attended Ohio University of Chillicothe.  She retired from the Ross County Treasurer's Office in 2000. She was also a   27 year dedicated member of the Kingston Chapter #411 Order of the Eastern Star serving 4 terms as Worthy Matron, Phythian Sisters Major Temple #516, Mt Pleasant Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Beta Mu Master Chapter, Ross County Farm Bureau Study Group #4, and served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the White Church Cemetery for numerous years. Funeral Service will be Sunday, Dec 4th, 2011, 2 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston, with Rev. Barry Bennett, and Rev Richard Patmore officiating.  Friends may call at Hill's on Saturday, December 3rd from 2-8 p.m. with Eastern Star service at 7 p.m..  Contributions can be made in the name of Kathryn Steele to the Kingston United Methodist Church, PO Box 335, Kingston, Ohio 45644. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to InCare Hospice and Traditions of Chillicothe, Schaeffer Center.
