Obituary

Josephine Frances Hatton

Josephine Frances Hatton entered heaven on Monday, November 10, 2025, at home with her son. Josephine (Jo or Joie) was born on May 15, 1940, in Ross County, to the late Albert and Jessie (Anders) Wunsch. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy L. Wunsch and Mary E. Cook, and by a grandson, Jacob A. Hatton. Jo was formerly married to the late Jack Hatton, with whom she shared six beloved children.

Surviving are her sister, Kathryn (Larry) Clark, of Chillicothe, and her brother, Steve (Linda) Wunsch, of Stoutsville; two daughters, Jane E. (Luis) Viesca and Julie A. (Tony) Holbrook, both of Chillicothe; four sons, Jack F. (Debbie) Hatton, Craig F. Hatton, Paul J. Hatton, and Mark A. Hatton, all of Chillicothe; as well as several nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After completing her schooling, Jo graduated in 1959 from Centralia High School, where she was a proud multi-sport athlete who loved participating in track, volleyball, and basketball. Following graduation, she began her long career as a cook at Zane Trace High School, where she faithfully served students and staff for more than 30 years before retiring as head cook in 2004. Jo truly enjoyed the people she worked with and often spoke fondly of the many memories she made there.

Jo was known for her wonderful home cooking and baking. She had a lifelong love of sports—especially baseball—and in her retirement, she cherished time with her family, watching baseball games, and playing cards. Jo also had a special fondness for snowmen and loved collecting them, finding joy in their cheerful smiles and the warmth they brought to her home year-round. Jo's greatest joy, though, came from the time she spent with the people she loved most—her family, who brought her endless happiness and laughter throughout her life.

Jo will be forever remembered for her legacy of love and kindness as a sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Services for Jo will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Hill Funeral Home in Kingston, with Pastor Greg Gardner officiating. Following the service, Jo will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston. Friends may call on Friday from noon until the time of the service. Condolences and floral gifts can be made on Jo's online tribute wall at www.hillfhkingston.com.
