IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph E.
Cupp
August 9, 1941 – July 26, 2025
Joseph E. Cupp
On Saturday, July 26th, 2025, Joseph E. Cupp was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus. He died at home, surrounded by family and friends. Joe was born on August 9th, 1941, in Circleville, Ohio, to Virginia (Arledge) Cupp and Arthur Cupp, who predeceased him, along with siblings: James, Charles, Robert, Walter (Buzz), John, Art, and Chloeann.
On October 16, 1980, he united in marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia (Thornton) Cupp, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa (Keith) Young, Theresa Richards, and Jullie Cupp Finley; granddaughters, Rebecca Young, Leah Richards, and Stefanie Paxton; brother, Paul Samuel (Carolyn) Cupp; dear friend, Mel Smith; special nieces, Tammy Boyer, Kathy Reichelderfer, as well as, many other nephews, nieces, friends, and neighbors.
Joe worked at Hill Implement for 24 years and then as an Agricultural / Diesel Mechanics teacher at Pickaway Ross JVS for another 23 years. He considered teaching his mission and enjoyed his numerous senior students. Many of them have remained in contact over the years and would stop and chat if they saw him sitting on the porch.
Joe was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and the ability to write poetry, both of which he used to honor the Lord. When able, he sang at church, revivals, and other occasions. He always said it was his goal to go to Heaven and take as many people with him as possible.
It is impossible to express what this man has meant to countless people. Among many comments, granddaughter Leah prayed, "Lord, let him come home - either ours or Yours." Granddaughter Rebecca described him as our rock, "the man", and in his words "a tough old bird". A close friend said "Joe could always right the boat and keep it heading in the right direction".
While Joe considered Charleston Church of the Brethren his home church, he was also ministered to so well by his family's church, Real Joy Community Fellowship.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with his niece, Pastor Charlene (Cupp) Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery, Hallsville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Hill's. Condolences and floral gifts can be made on Joe's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
