John Scott Boggs

    John Scott Boggs, 80, of Kingston, started his journey to eternal life on September 4, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family following an extended illness. John was born on July 31, 1946, in Kingston, the son of the late Howard S. Boggs Jr. and Catherine T. (Smith) Boggs. On August 21, 1970, he united in marriage with his loving wife, Cathy “Cate” Elaine (Blevins) Boggs, who preceded him in death on September 26, 2022.

    John is survived by his brother, Edward Ned (Grace Marlene) Boggs, of Kingston; beloved godson, Alex (Josie) Karshner, of Kingston, and their son, Max Karshner; special cousins, Tom Smith, of California, Ralph Metzger, of Columbus, and Dan Smith, of Circleville; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.

    Along with his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Boggs) May.

    John was a member of the second graduating class of Bishop Flaget High School (Class of 1964). He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a combat infantryman. John was a member of the U.S. Army Airborne Division and served two tours in Vietnam. As a paratrooper, John’s unit made the only combat jump of the Vietnam War; an accomplishment which was written about in a Life Magazine article. Following his military service, John joined his family’s longtime business, Boggs Chevrolet, of Kingston, and was a successful car dealer for almost 40 years. He was a proud lifetime member of the American Legion Post 291, of Kingston, and he served as commander of the Post for around 10 years. John served on the Kingston National Bank’s Board of Directors and served on the Kingston Village Council.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church (61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, Ohio) at a date and time to be announced.
