Joan (Richter) Whaley

Joan (Richter) Whaley, 79, of Kingston, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. She was born on January 29, 1936, the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Morris) Richter. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1954.

She married her best friend, Gene Whaley, on October 21, 1955, who survives. She is also survived by her 3 beloved children, Sherry (Rick) Stevens, Mark (Carla) Whaley, and Marvin (Linda) Whaley; grandchildren, Crystal (John) Hughes, Jill (Jamie) Unger, Matthew (Tiffany) McGee, and Joy (Tom) Brown; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Carolyn Lump and Kate Richter; and several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Dave and Harold Richter; sister-in-law, Audrey Richter; brother-in-law, Larry Lump; and her beloved pets, Bandit and Rowdy.

She retired from General Electric where she worked for 26 years, was a longtime member of the Green Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary (Kingston), loved being the den mother of the Cub Scout Pack 33, a member of the Meldaddy Cancer Destroyers Relay for Life team, and a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals on game day. Family members were always able to hear her yelling "Who Dey!" She loved spending time at home and watching her grandchildren grow up. One of her favorite events was the annual family chicken fry. She always looked forward to spending time with family and friends. She was a very special person and is sadly missed by many.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18 at 2 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at Hill's. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joan's name to the Green Township Ladies Auxiliary (P.O.
