Jerolyn Raye (Mooney) Atkins

Jerolyn Raye (Mooney) Atkins, 84, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2018 at her residence. She was born on September 2, 1933, in Ironton, the daughter of the late Andrew Lee and Teresa (McCoy) Mooney. On November 7, 1981, she was united in marriage with her loving husband, Shirley "Jake" Atkins, who preceded her in death in 2013.

Jerolyn is survived by her loving children, Craig (Carol) Haskins, of Lebanon, Michelle (Dave) Pommer and Cindy (Jack) Mergo, both of Kingston; stepchildren, William Joseph (Teresa) Atkins and Randall (Lisa) Atkins, both of Chillicothe, and Jason (Becky) Atkins, of Kingston; 14 grandchildren, Joel, Hannah, Megan, April, J.R., Jacob, Seth, John, Emily, Paul, Keshia, Nicole, Shannon, and Jason; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jerolyn received her associate's degree in nursing from Shawnee State University in 1979 and fulfilled her nursing career as an RN at Adena Health System, Chillicothe. In addition to being a wonderful mother, Jerolyn will be remembered for her love of animals, camping, crocheting, and her avid support of the QVC shopping channel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. at Hill's. Condolences can be made on Jerry's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
