Janet Dare (VanDyke) Willis

Janet Dare (VanDyke) Willis, 81, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 16, 2018 at Traditions of Chillicothe where she resided.

She was born October 21, 1937 in Vansant, Virginia, in Buchanan County to the late Jennings R. and Fanny (Breeding) VanDyke.  She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Dane Willis on April 7, 1956.

Surviving are children Thomas S. (Toni) Willis, Alice Willis and Amie (Michael) Lobaugh; grandchildren, Brandon (Alexandra) Willis, Alex (Sara) Lobaugh, Kevin Thomas, Natalie Willis, Justin (Holli) Thomas, Staci Lobaugh, Phillip (Sabrina) Thomas, Makenna Thomas and Chelsea Lobaugh; great grandchildren Layla Nutter, Marcel Thomas, Veronica Nutter, Damien Thomas, Wren Lobaugh, Henry Lobaugh and Lincoln Reed as well as siblings Dean (Wanda) VanDyke, Ann Leeth, Sue (Roger Blais), Jane (Richard) Lenyk, Gayle (Carlton) Thomas, June VanDyke and Vicki (Rob) Abraham.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dane on February 10, 2018.

Janet was a 1956 graduate of Western High School in Latham, Ohio.  She was a devoted wife and homemaker.  She was a wonderful cook and seamstress.  She was the wife that stayed home to raise the kids and keep the house.  Dad got off at five and supper was always on the table.  We always had plenty to eat, a warm bed and clean clothes.  She was a loving mother that had a hug for you if you fell and scraped your knee or an attitude adjustment if you got out of line.  Janet loved family gatherings and picnics if the season permitted.  Many good memories were made at Scioto Trail, Pike Lake and Rocky Fork Lake to name a few.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.  There will be no calling hours. The family will have a celebration of her life at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston.  Condolences can be made on Janet's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
