Glenn Russell Steele

Glenn Russell Steele, 84, of Kingston, passed away on July 12, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 22, 1934, in Laurelville, to the late Oakley Haynes and Bessie Marie (Weaver) Steel.  He married his late wife, Kathryn May Metcalfe, on October 27, 1956 in Kingston.  They enjoyed 55 years together.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Raymond and Robert Oakley Steele; and sisters, Sharon Kay Goode, JoAnn Helen Lutz, Betty Lowery, and Marilyn June Steele.

Surviving are five children, Deborah Louise (Charles) Pockras, Glenn Bryan Steele, Deanna Lynn Elliott, Glenda Kay (Dennis) Cornett, and Robert Oakley Steele; sisters, Mary Lou Lehman and Donna Sue Hanes; sister-in-laws, Carolyn (Stanley) Brigner and Beverly S. Valentine; and brother-in-law, Gary L. Metcalfe; grandchildren, Paul (Sarah) Good, Heath (Susie) Good, Christopher (Lisa) Steele, Kirstin (James) Days, Katie (Josh) Smith, Kelsey (Matt) Hudson, Moriah Elisabeth and Hannah Esther Pockras; step-grandchildren, Dustin (Tammy) Cornett, and Justin Cornett; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his loving dog, Shasta.

Glenn was the center of his family and enjoyed having everyone at his home for family gatherings. He also was a very generous man, who was always willing to help anyone in need. Glenn never met a stranger; he saw the good in everyone.

Glenn graduated from Laurelville High School in 1951.  He was a millwright at the NewPage (Mead) Corporation and retired in 2005 after 45 years of service. Glenn was a member of the Laurel Valley Baptist Church, Kingston Chapter #411 Order of the Eastern Star and the Logan Elm Lodge #624 F&AM.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston, with Pastor Steve Schmidt officiating.  Burial will follow in the White Church Cemetery.  Friends may call on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 2 - 8 p.m. at Hills.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Glenn to Laurel Valley Baptist Church (C/O Aaron Mosley: 7081 St. Rt. 180, Kingston, Ohio 45644).
