Glenda S. (Coleman) Cook

Glenda S. (Coleman) Cook, born January 6, 1937 and died, at age 87, on June 21, 2024. She was a longtime resident of Williamsport, OH and recent years were spent at Valley View Nursing Home in Frankfort, OH.

Glenda is preceded in death by husband, Thomas Cook Sr.; parents, Ralph and Dorothy Coleman; daughter, Pamela Maynard; granddaughter, Amy Cunningham Ferrell; and brothers, Ralph Jr., William, Bruce, Loy, Vaughn, and Brent Coleman.

She is survived by her children, Thomas (Jane) Cook Jr., Debra Cook-Hildenbrand, and Douglas (Jane) Cook; siblings, Carolyn (Walter) Johnson and Neil (Pat) Coleman; grandchildren, Steven Cook, Karen Cook, Angela (Joel) Rice, Rebecca Yates, Tina Hildenbrand, Sara (Dia) Hildenbrand, and Thomas (Kristen) Cook III; sixteen great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Glenda was part of a family of nine children.  This began her lifelong calling of being a caregiver. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Cook. They quickly became a family with four children. Their children always inviting community kids over to play baseball, basketball, and hanging out, Glenda began babysitting to stay home with her young children.  She found it easy to be surrounded by numerous kids. It was a joy for her. As her children grew, she began working at the local Don's Discount Foods. Her personality of kindness and helpfulness was enjoyed by all the customers and staff. Glenda always chose to get to know those she met.

Family was everything to her. She spent hours preparing Sunday and holiday meals. She loved having a full house. When the grandchildren started coming, she loved them dearly. Whatever those children needed she was there for them.

Leaving Dons, Glenda returned to her passion for being with children. She began full time childcare services. The number of children she loved is too many to mention. The adults also benefitted from her caring ways. Her parents and Tom, her husband, knew firsthand how much she cared for them. She helped them through their illnesses just trying to make each day a little better. As great grandchildren were born, she did her best to keep up.

Quietly with no needed recognition, Glenda cared for her family. She never asked for anything in return. She will be remembered by so many whose lives are forever changed by the love she shared.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. Rodney Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Hill's. Graveside committal services will be held on Friday, June 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Springlawn Cemetery, Williamsport.
