George William Hunt

George William Hunt, 98, of Adelphi, entered into Heaven on May 25, 2026 at Circleville Post Acute following an extended illness. He was born on November 16, 1927, in Hocking County, the son of the late William Bryan and Lessie (Noble) Hunt.

George is survived by his daughter, Shirley McNichols, of Adelphi; grandchildren, Cheryl McWhorter and Shannon (Robert) Corwin; great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Cameron, and Makayla; great-great-grandchildren, Maddie, Sophia, Liam, and Zane; sister, Sue (Jack) Huffman, of Circleville; sister-in-law, Mary Flowers, of Adelphi; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth (Behmer) Hunt, who preceded him in death in 2003; and siblings, Melvin Hunt and Virginia Stinard.

George was a 1945 graduate of Laurelville High School. He went on to work as a cement finisher and carpenter with Garwick and Ross Construction of Columbus for 20 years. He was a member of the Laborers Local 423 Union. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston Cemetery, Kingston with Pastor James Vandagriff officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Hills.
