Fred A. Jones

Fred A. Jones, 85, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Fred was born on February 19, 1937, in Portsmouth, Ohio. On October 13, 1957, he united in marriage with his loving wife of almost 65 years, Ruth Ann (Delong) Jones, who survives.

Fred is also survived by his beloved sons, Fred (Jodie) Jones and Craig (Tammy) Jones, both of Kingston; grandchildren, Kyle (Amy) Jones, of Circleville, Emily (Russell) Hainline, of Los Angeles, California, McKenzie Jones, Nicholas (Shelby) Jones, Benjamin Jones, Allison Jones, and Lucas Jones, all of Kingston; great-grandchildren, Emmett and Vivian Jones and Brynlea Elizabeth and Jayce Daniel Jones; siblings, Nancy Walker, of Chillicothe, George (Rosemary) Targee, of Boise, Idaho, and Phil (Linda) Targee, of Sarasota, Florida; brother-in-law, Richard (Beth) Delong; sister-in-law, Janet (Fred) Duve; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished.

Fred was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys (Williams) Targee; father, Carl Jones; and dad, Orville "Hoke" Targee.

Fred graduated from Kingston High School Class of 1955 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Education from Ohio University and his Masters Degree in Education from Xavier University. Fred was a lifelong educator who served in numerous schools across Ross county. His predominate role was that of a teacher and principal at Washington Court House City Schools. He also loved supporting and watching local high school sporting events.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Chaplain Sue Duve officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston, with military honors provided by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Hill's.
