Evelyn Ruth (Hill) Montgomery
Evelyn Ruth (Hill) Montgomery, 97, of Chillicothe, entered into Heaven peacefully on March 31, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born on February 7, 1919, in Vinton County, to the late Thomas and Flossie (Graves) Hill. She was married to Ronald L. Montgomery, who preceded her in death in 2014.
She is survived by her children, Linda Park, Ronald (Sharon) Montgomery, Donald (Irma) Montgomery, Jana (Tony) Britton, and Melissa (Dale) Schelling; sister, Martha Cottrill; brother, Roy (Faye) Hill. She was deeply loved by 13 grandchildren, Jeff (Monie) Graves, Mike (Ruth) Graves, Beth Williams, Tricia (Andrew) Brownlow, Lora (Brian) Hutchins, Jeremy (Michelle) Hammond, Talia Montgomery, Thea Montgomery, Dustin (Meredith) Britton, Tara Montgomery, Evan (Emily) Schelling, Blake Britton, and Levi (Shelby) Schelling; 9 great-grandchildren, Chad Graves, Cara (Dan) Graves, Tucker Hammond, Sky Graves, Kennedy Hammond, Morgan Hutchins, Kayla Brownlow, Kendall Britton, Bristol Britton , and Baby E (due in April); 3 great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Detty, Landen Graves, and Jaden Graves.
She was predeceased by brothers, Oather Hill and Owen Hill and sons-in-law, Ray E. Graves and Dan Park.
Evelyn owned a dry goods store in Frankfort many years. She was a Stanley distributor and helped her husband in his business, Ronnie's Appliance Service. Evelyn and Ronnie were 4-H advisors for 20 years and were honored with The Friends of 4-H Award in 2003. Evelyn and Ronnie also started the Zane Trace Sausage Booth at the Ross County Fair. She was also an active member of the Eastern Star, Amaranth, and White Shrine.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston, with Rev. Shane Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the White Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be observed on Sunday from 3 – 7 p.m. at Hill's. C ondolences can be made on Evelyn's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com .
