Elizabeth "Betsy" (Boggs) May
Elizabeth "Betsy" (Boggs) May, 86, started her journey to eternal life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1939 to Howard and Catherine Boggs, Kingston, Ohio.
In 1961 she graduated with a bachelor's degree in nursing from Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado. She immediately chased her dream of living in New York City. She worked for 10 years as a public health nurse serving the Bronx and Harlem areas helping those less fortunate. She later moved to Columbus, Ohio where she met the love of her life, James Taylor May. They were married at St. Joseph Cathedral on May 29, 1971. She continued her nursing career as a school nurse in the catholic school system in Columbus. She really enjoyed being a nurse serving the needs of children.
Betsy enjoyed many travels to Europe, cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal, and once to Asia.
She is survived by her two brothers, John Boggs and Ned (Marlene) Boggs, Kingston, Ohio; cousins: Tom Smith, Ontario, CA; Dan (Jane) Smith, Circleville, Ohio; Ralph Metzger (Linda Larger), Columbus, Ohio; and special friends: Becky Wright and Jill Hurley, Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister-in-law, Cathy Boggs.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 61 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, Ohio. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass in the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
