Dwight Eugene Davis

Dwight Eugene Davis, 94, of Kingston, went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 18, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 4, 1922, the son of the late John R. and Lucy (Pontious) Davis, of Kingston. On January 6, 1946, he married the former Bette Waters, a wonderful marriage partnership that lasted 70 years. Their entire life together was spent in Kingston, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Bette; special children, James L. (Sally) Davis, of Columbus, and Kristina K. Gerber, of Lancaster; 3 grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Davis, or Orient, and Melissa and Matthew Gerber, of Lancaster; and great-grandchild, Norah Davis, of Orient. He is also survived by 3 nephews, Col. John Davis (Ret.), of Lenoir, N.C., Dan Davis, of Amity, Tom Davis, of Circleville, and many loving friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Raymond Davis, and special sister-in-law, Betty J. Davis, all of Kingston.

Dwight was a devoted member of the Circleville First Church of Christ in Christian Union, an active member of the Building Disciples SS Class, and the Senior Citizens J.O.Y. Group. He was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1940. He was a veteran of WWII, having served 2 years in India. He was also a 50 plus year member of the Kingston American Legion. He was an original member of the Kingston Volunteer Fire Dept. and served several terms on the Kingston Village Counsel.

He was the owner of Davis Plumbing and Sheet Metal Company and retired from that business.

Dwight loved the Lord and served Him in so many ways all of his adult life. The way he lived his life was truly an example to be followed. He will truly be missed by all who loved him so much.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston, with Pastor Greg Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with military honors provided by the Ross County Honor Guard. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 20 from 2 – 8 p.m. at Hill's.
