Dorothy F. Conaway

Dorothy F. Conaway, 91, of Chillicothe, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 5:55 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Traditions of Chillicothe Hospice following a brief illness.

She was born on April 21,1924 to the late Roy N. Hertenstein and Mabel Muntz Hertenstein. On September 8, 1940, she married William C. Conaway who died March 7, 1968. In addition to her late husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Clara Evelyn Collins, Louise Eleanor Wolfe, Mary Carroll Crago, Glenna Jean Hertenstein, and three brothers Roy N. Hertenstein, Marvin Dale Hertenstein, and Merle Hertenstein. She was also predeceased by daughter in-law Shirley J. Conaway, and great granddaughter Elizabeth Theofilos.

Surviving are her children, Neal Conaway, (and his companion Hope Miller) of Hallsville, Gary Conaway (Shirley) of Chillicothe, Billy Conaway (Deby) of Virginia, Michele Grooms (Jake) of Frankfort. Grandchildren surviving are Kelly Theofilos (Chris), La Donna Conaway, Angie Thompson (Kerby), Lisa Reutinger (Mike), Billy Conaway (Tisha), Molly-Kate Conaway, Natalyn Conaway, Rob Grooms (Lissy), Jason Grooms (Emily), Ryan Grooms (Lynzee). Numerous great grand- children, and great- great -grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews, and a special niece Kay Vallery of Chillicothe.

Dorothy attended Centralia H.S. She was employed by National Fireworks, a Sales Representative for Stanley Products, and the Ross County Water Co. Dorothy, with her husband Bill, owned and operated three grocery stores and Conaway Trailer Sales on Bridge St., in Chillicothe from 1964-1968. This was the first camping trailer sales in Chillicothe.

Dorothy, along with her husband Bill were members of the Mt. Logan Riding Club and National Campers Association.

In 1975, Dorothy moved to Holiday, Florida where she became an active member of the Fire Lassies, and Delta Theta Tau sorority. She loved her life in Florida, but returned to Chillicothe to be near her family. She was a member of Brookside Church. She resided at Hopeton Village of Chillicothe.

Services will be held at Brookside Church at 7:00 pm on Thursday August 27, 2015. Pastor Jack Norman will be presiding over the service. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, with the Funeral service immediately following beginning at 7:00 pm. Graveside service will be Friday 11: 00 am at Bethel Cemetery. Contributions can be made to National Church Residences Hospice 681 E. Third St. Waverly, Ohio 45690. Services are under the direction of the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston.
