Donna J Karshner
Donna Jean (Pritchard) Karshner 85, of Adelphi passed away on June 30, 2014. She was born on December 29, 1928 in Chillicothe Ohio to the late Alice Schrader Pritchard and Charles Wesley Pritchard. She was married to the love of her life, the late John Philemon Karshner, for 63 years.
She had five children and her son, John P. Karshner II, preceded her in death. She is survived by her three sons, Norman K. Karshner of Adelphi, Philip N. (Andria) Karshner of Seymour, IN., C. Victor Karshner of Adelphi, and daughter, Teresa J. Karshner of Adelphi, sister Marjorie Heckler of Westerville, brothers Charles (Sharon) Pritchard of Circleville, and David Pritchard of Laurelville; brother-in-law David O. Jones; sister-in-law Dr. Mary Ann Jones; eight grandchildren; Kelly Karshner, Katie Karshner, Jason (Lisa) Wiseman, Justin (Ashley) Wiseman, Jared (Melinda) Karshner, Jessica Karshner, Kristina Karshner and Alexander Karshner; two great-grandchildren, Leah and Madelyn Wiseman, many nieces and nephews.
Donna graduated from Adelphi school with high honors where she was a cheerleader and played volleyball. She also attended the Ohio State University. In 1961, Donna and her husband John moved to Phoenix Arizona where they were pioneers in FM Radio broadcasting industry. Together they founded KNIX, the first FM Stereo radio station west of the Mississippi. After moving back to the family farm in 1968, Donna went to work at the Kenworth Truck Company where she was an executive administrative assistant to the plant manager prior to retiring. Donna was also very active in the Professional Secretaries International where she held many titles including president.. She was noted as the local historian for Adelphi and published several historical documents.
Donna was a national award-winning cook and loved to create new dishes and delights. She was a #1 Buckeye fan and loved cheering on the men's basketball and football teams. Donna also loved flowers, gardening and watching the hummingbirds and songbirds. She enjoyed many travels abroad with her husband and family. She was an active member of the Adelphi Methodist Church. Donna was known and recognized wherever she went for her trademark hats. She was also known as a classy lady as well as a very kind and caring person with a generous heart. She will be remembered for the selfless love she showered upon her children, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Adelphi U.M. Church. Burial will follow at the Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston on Saturday from 4-8 p. m and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Donna's name to the Adelphi U.M.
