Donna Jean (Ray) Mavis

Donna Jean (Ray) Mavis, 91, of Kingston, passed away on February 17, 2026 at Chillicothe Post Acute Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born on October 28, 1934, in Ray, the daughter of the late Floyd E. and Muriel Beatrice (Trumen) Ray.

Donna is survived by her beloved children, Debra S. (Ken) Hamilton, of Kingston, Steven B. (Rachel) Rinehart, of Kingston, Karen (Rob) Wilhelm, of Chillicothe, and Edwin F. Mavis, of Kingston; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Bruce (Penny) Ray, of Vinton County, and Lenora Sue Jarvis, of Chillicothe; and numerous other family members and friends whom she cherished.

Donna was a 1953 graduate of Harrison High School, of Vinton County. Donna found her calling later in life and went to nursing school at Hocking Technical College in her late 40’s to become an LPN. She worked as a nurse at Orient Prison, Chillicothe Correctional Institute, Logan Elm Nursing Home, and she retired from OSU Wexner Medical Center. Donna was a natural caregiver that was always concerned about the welfare of others, which made her the perfect nurse. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. As hobbies, she enjoyed reading, thrift shopping, and she was a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. She will be deeply missed.
