Donald Eugene Hinton

Donald Eugene Hinton, 81, of Laurelville, entered into Heaven on February 21, 2026 at OhioHealth Berger Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on January 2, 1945, in Londonderry, the son of the late Harold and Doris (Routte) Hinton. On September 28, 1965, he united in marriage with his beloved wife, Carolyn Mae (Clements) Hinton, who preceded him in death on March 14, 2014.

Donald is survived by his children, Becky (Dave) Mahoney and Randy Lee (Lesley) Hinton; grandchildren, William Unger, Waylon (Whitney) Unger, Rowdy Hinton, and Karley Hinton; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Aarolyn; sister, Karen (Glen) Smith; several nieces and nephews; and numerous other family members and friends whom he cherished.

In addition to his parents and wife, Donald was preceded in death by his children, Maryanne Trevorah, Trisha Hinton, Heidi Hinton, and Scott Hinton; and siblings, Ronnie Hinton, Rita Seymour, Beverly McNichols and Mary Crosby.

Donald retired from Melvin Stone Company in 2014 after 50 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan and raced stock cars himself in his younger years. He loved the OSU Buckeyes and took great joy in mowing his yard. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Pastor James Vandagriff officiating. Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at Hill’s.
