He was born on November 9, 1965, in Columbus, the son of the late James and Olive (Fisher) Evans and late Joann Irish. On September 28, 2006 in St. Lucia, he was united in marriage with his loving wife, Leslie Ann (Maughmer) Vickers, who survives.

Dan was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrigs Disease, in January 2015. He fought courageously and won his battle on April 6, 2018.
Dan grew up in Unionville Center, OH. He attended Fairbanks High School and graduated from Tolles Technical Center in 1985. He worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist for Kenworth Truck Company for 23 years. Dan enjoyed several activities including spending time with friends and family, traveling, jet skiing, four wheeling, "wrenching and tinkering", and attending car shows. Dan's favorite hobby was restoring and driving classic Chevy and GMC trucks.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations made to PROJECT MAIN ST. (244 Fifth Avenue, Suite #2417, New York, NY 10001) or on their website at projectmainst.org. Project Main St. provides financial assistance to individuals diagnosed with ALS. Dan was a recipient of this grant.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to friends and family that have helped and supported Dan through this time. A special thanks to caregivers Tamara Jacobs, Lisa McCloy, Abby Archer and the Heartland Hospice Team.
