Dane T. Willis, 80, of Chillicothe, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Traditions of Chillicothe with his loving wife by his side.
He was born May 16, 1937 to the late Dane Tilghman and Mary Etta (Bell) Willis. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Janet Dare Van Dyke on April 7, 1956.
Surviving are children, Thomas S. (Toni) Willis, Alice Willis, and Amie (Michael) Lobaugh; grandchildren, Brandon Willis, Alex (Sara) Lobaugh, Kevin Thomas, Natalie (Ronnie Nutter) Willis, Justin (Holli) Thomas, Staci Lobaugh, Phillip (Sabrina) Thomas, Makenna Thomas, and Chelsea Lobaugh; great grandchildren, Layla Nutter, Marcel Thomas, Veronica Nutter, Damien Thomas, Wren Lobaugh, Henry Lobaugh, and Lincoln Reed, as well as, a sister, Mary Torres.
He was predeceased by brothers, Farrell, Joe, Jack, Don, and sister, Ruth Catherine Knicely.
Dane was a 1955 graduate of Western High School in Latham, Ohio. He began his work career at Mead Paper in the bond room. After working there a short time he enrolled in the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. That was not meant to be but upon leaving there he became a radio dispatcher for the Chillicothe Patrol Post. Dane eventually returned to Mead where he became a printer. Dane attained a high level of skill operating offset presses including four color. He went on to work for Craftsman Printing for many years as well as The Print Shop on Water Street in Chillicothe, Zane Commercial Printing, in Kingston, and finally finished his career at Baesman Printing in Hilliard, Ohio.
Dane was a devoted family man with an outgoing personality and a wonderful sense of humor. He loved family gatherings and picnics. He loved fishing with his kids as well as hunting, target shooting and mushroom hunting. He made friends everywhere he worked. When he had a printing press set up and running well he could be heard singing all over the shop.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. The family welcomes relatives and friends to a Celebration of his life Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Traditions of Chillicothe, Ohio in the Schaeffer activity room from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
