Damon (Bud) Barnes
ADELPHI: Damon (Bud) Barnes, 88, of Adelphi, passed away on Sunday January 17, 2016, at Ohio State University Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born April 12, 1927, in Hallsville, Ross County, the son of William & Bessie (Barnhart) Barnes.
Left behind to cherish their memories are his beloved wife of 67 years, Leona (Rutter) Barnes; his beloved children, Mike (Peggy) Barnes, of Kingston, Tonia (Barry) Marshall, of Stoutsville; grandchildren, Tiffany Blaskis, of Hilliard, Mallory (Ethan) Mathias, of Stoutsville, Angie (Rob) Thomas, of Adelphi; great-grandchildren, Alexa Clark, of Hilliard, Bobby, Lychelle (Tyler Smittler ) and Christopher (Bethany Jerrell) Thomas, of Kingston; sisters, Mary Lewis, of Middletown, Florence Hettinger, of Adelphi, Betty (Dick) Huffman, of Logan; brothers, Nate Barnes and Roger (Betty) Barnes, of Circleville, sister-in-law, Lottie Diltz; special friend and family members, Belinda Boltenhouse, Jerry, Lynn & Jodi Chester and four legged companions, Hudson & Buttercup.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Goldie Francis Barnes; brother-in-laws, Robert Lewis, Glen Hettinger, Jim Diltz, and Kelson Rutter, and sister-in-law, Betty Barnes.
He worked at Mead Paper Mill in Chillicothe for 47 years in the calendar department, volunteered for the Adelphi Senior Center and was a volunteer fire fighter for the Village of Adelphi for many years. He also liked to tinker and fix old clock like his Grandfather Barnhart. He liked to fish, play cards and spend time with his family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Rev. Carroll Carper officiating . Burial will follow in the Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call at Hill's on Wednesday from 4 – 8 pm. C ondolences can be made on Damon's online guest registry at www. hillfhkingston.com.
