Obituary

Rev. Curtis Booth, 88, of Lenore, WV, entered his brand-new Heavenly Home on November 28, 2025. He was joyfully welcomed by his beloved wife, Pat; his sons Curtis, Mike, Rick, Steve, and Ronnie; his brothers Truman and Dana; his sisters Opal, Nellie, Loretta, and Edna; his parents, Alton and Nancy Booth; and two grandsons who preceded him in death. Curtis was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend—but his most treasured title was "A child of God." He lived and walked by faith for nearly his entire life. Born on June 30, 1937, to Alton and Nancy Booth, Curtis later married Patricia Smallridge, and together they raised seven children. He accepted Christ at age 21, and soon after, God called him into the ministry. For more than six decades, he faithfully preached God's Word. Curtis pastored numerous churches throughout West Virginia and Ohio and was instrumental in building Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church in Lenore, where he served for over 20 years. He also founded and served as principal of the former Mingo Christian School beginning in 1978. While he ran several businesses over the years, his heart's mission was always serving the Lord. His most recent pastorate was Gahanna Freewill Baptist Church in Gahanna, OH, where he shepherded the congregation for more than 30 years. If you ever met Rev. Booth, you didn't leave the same. He was always about his Father's business—sharing the plan of Salvation and offering a smile that could brighten any day. Many have already welcomed him home in Heaven, grateful for the message he preached and the call they heeded. Those left to cherish his memory include his two surviving children, Larita and her husband Eddie Jude, and Dave Booth; nine grandchildren; his brother Arlon; his sisters Jewel and her husband Leo Belcher, and Gail Marcum; along with a host of great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Chafin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with Rev. Herman Stacy officiating. Burial will follow in the Booth Cemetery at Dingess, WV. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Local care entrusted to the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston.
