Clarence A. “Tony” Thompson
“Gone from my sight, but not from my heart.”
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clarence A. “Tony” Thompson, 83, of Kingston. Tony passed away at his residence at 12:00 p.m. on July 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born on August 22, 1942, in Circleville, the son of the late Carl Emanuel and Edna Virginia (Russell) Thompson. On October 26, 1964, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Pattie Jean (Barker) Thompson, who survives. They met at the skating rink in Kingston when she was 13 and he was 17. Their young romance grew into a lifetime of love and devotion. Determined to spend time with her, he would often walk or hitchhike from his childhood home in Circleville to her parents' home in Kingston just to see her, a testament to the deep love and commitment that would define their marriage for nearly 62 years.
He is also survived by his beloved children, Tammy Sue (Gordon) Bruan, Tony Alan (Stephanie) Thompson, and Terry (Amber) Thompson; grandchildren, Rachael Crabtree (Andrew Bolender), Cheryl (Frank) Lugenbeel, Richie Watson Jr., Joshua White, Kaitlyn Thompson, Alex (Kristen) Pridemore, Haley (Cameron) Rung, and Addyson Thompson; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kaylee, Layton, Erin, Lincoln, Charlotte, and Ripley; and numerous other special family members and friends whom he cherished. Along with his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Landon Crabtree; brother, Tom Thompson; and beloved canine companions, Bear, Chip and Buddy.
Tony attended Circleville High School and retired from DuPont of Circleville after 29 years of faithful service. Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged from duty on April 25, 1962. He was a proud member of the Kingston American Legion Post. Tony coached baseball for Zane Trace Youth League when his sons played in school. Tony could always be spotted at the Chillicothe Paints games or driving his canine companion, Buddy, around Kingston in his truck. Tony and Pattie enjoyed breakfast with friends at N. Bridge Street McDonalds every day up until his illness. Tony had a deep love for his country and was proudly patriotic. American flags held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in anything that displayed the stars and stripes.
The family would also like to thank Adena Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during Tony’s illness. In accordance with his wishes, family and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral in everyday clothing. Formal attire is not expected; your presence is what mattered most to him. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston with Pastor Brad Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston with military honors provided by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Hills. Condolences and floral gifts may be made on Tony's online guestbook at www.hillfhkingston.com.
