Chad R. Mettler

Chad R. Mettler, 53, of Adelphi, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 6th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center after a long and courageous battle following a double lung transplant in 2021. He was born on March 22, 1973.

Chad was a devoted and loving husband to Michele Mettler, and a cherished father to Nate (Mikaela) Mettler, Taylor (Tyler) Robers, and Jacob (Gracie) Mettler. He was a proud "Papaw" to his four grandchildren, Maddox, Wade, James, and Whitley, who brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his father, Duke Russell Mettler; his sister, Beth (Terry) Downs; and his brother, Greggory (Heather) Mettler; his mother-in-law, Sharon Shewalter and sister-in-law, Benita (Dan) Burton. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Bonnie Mettler.

Chad will be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, and papaw. He touched countless lives and will be forever missed by all who knew him.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Ohio State Lung Transplant Center and the Wexner Medical Center MICU Staff, for their exceptional care, love, and unwavering support. Their dedication allowed the family to create many special memories that they would have otherwise lost, particularly in light of the challenges faced during Covid in 2021.

A special thank you is also extended to Father Jean-Luc, whose spiritual guidance fulfilled Chad's long-held wish to convert to Catholicism.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John's Catholic Church (351 N. Market Street, Logan, OH 43138). Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. Arrangements have been entrusted to the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston.
