Arlene Kay (Tatman) Cottrill
Arlene Kay (Tatman) Cottrill, 73, of Chillicothe, departed this world June 6, 2014. She was born on May 11, 1941 to the late Clifford and Leora (Clary) Tatman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Russell "Gene" Cottrill, infant brothers Royce and Timothy, and grandson James.
Kay is survived by her sisters, Rebecca Johnson and Christy Reed; her sister-in-law, Mildred "Sis" Waters; four children, Sherri, Randy (Melissa), Rick (Kim), and Crystal (Brad); 11 grandchildren, Molly (Tim), Adam (Azia), John, Katie, Anna (Nate), Russell, Richard, Ryan, Nikki, Chris, and Alya; and eight great-grandchildren, Makina, Gracelynn, Miley, Brysonn, Cole, Maci, Baeleigh, and Jayce.
She was a 1959 graduate of Allensville High School. After high school, she worked as a clerical typist in Columbus, Ohio before she met her sweetheart Gene at the local Sumburger restaurant. An active mother, she was known for assisting the rabbit barn in 4-H. Other hobbies included collecting quilts, candles, and pottery. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her kids and grandchildren.
A spunky, sweet woman with a great sense of humor, she will be eternally missed and remains forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be Monday 11 a.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Hill cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hill's.
