April Amanda Browning-Ramey, 50, of Bainbridge, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 17, 2026 at her home. She was an incredibly strong woman who put up a courageous fight with Stage 4 Brain Cancer. She was born on March 1, 1976, in Chillicothe, the daughter of the late Douglas Browning and Shirley Smyers. On June 12, 2010, she united in marriage with her beloved husband, J.R. Ramey, who survives.
April is also survived by her children, J2 Ramey and Ashley Ramey; siblings, Patty (Dale) Skaggs and Robert Queen; mother-in-law, Rita Ramey; special cousin, Lisa Poole; numerous special nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues whom she cherished.
In addition to her parents, April was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Queen, and father-in-law, James Ramey.
April graduated from Paint Valley High School Class of 1994 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Ohio University Chillicothe. She worked for the State of Ohio in the prison system for 20 years and, most recently, worked for Ross County Job and Family Services (Child Support). April loved adventure and traveling, especially the beach. She enjoyed drag racing, mud running, and Jeep rides. She was a truly loving and selfless person who would do anything to help someone else. She will be deeply missed.
J.R. would like to sincerely thank the following people who greatly helped throughout April’s illness: Nancy Gayness, Patty Skaggs, Rita Ramey, Sherman and Dianna Wright, Jason Lentz, Shawn Perry, Joshua Ramey, Lisa Vandemark, the medical staff of OSU Medical Center, hospice nurse, Lisa Holdren, and The Bridge at Bourneville Church.
