Alvin Leroy (Punk) Arledge
On May 20, 2016, our most precious father, Alvin Leroy (Punk) Arledge, 89, of Laurelville, while surrounded by his loving family, slipped from this world and into the arms of his family awaiting him in Heaven. He was born January 15, l927, the eldest son of Ora Schwalbach Tatman and he was the brother of nine siblings. On Dec.19, 1949, he married Anne Nungester, who preceded him in death in 2007.
Alvin is survived by children, Billie Jo (Jerry) Morrison, Harold (Lisa) Arledge, John Arledge and Cindy Arledge; siblings, Ronnie (Sally) Parker, Kenny (Freddie) Tatman, Audrey Brown, Ray (Rita) Tatman, and Janet Hedges; sisters-in-law, Ruth Henderson, Phyllis Tatman and Becky Tatman; he was a loving and gentle man to 8 grandchildren, Beth (Ryan) Vandagriff, Heather (Joe) Easter, Mandy (David) Deems, Nicole (Roger) Shaffer, Michelle (Daniel) Grambo, Daniel Arledge, Jonna (Garold) Sizemore, Anne Marie (Harley Debord) Arledge; and great-grandchildren, Kyle (Breanna) and Seth Vandagriff, Mikayla and Zachary Easter, Devin and Ethan Deems, Erica, Mason and Corbin Hart, and Waylon Grambo. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of Kymber Vandagriff in July, which would have made the fifth generation.
He was also preceded in death by his children, Gene and Jeff Arledge and siblings, Bub Henderson, Pete Tatman, Gene Tatman, and Margie Salyers.
He proudly served his country in Germany and Japan during WWII. He was a hard working life long Logger and Sawmiller by trade and was joined in his profession by all his sons in Arledge Logging. Alvin's kind heart and gentle soul will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Church, Laurelville. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ross County Honor Guard. Calling hours will be observed on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston.
