Roger William Adams

Roger William Adams, 84, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away, Sunday, March 24, 2019 of natural causes surrounded by family members.

Roger was born August 30, 1934 in Kinnikinnick, Ohio to Green and Lula (Large) Adams. He grew up on a local farm and graduated from Centralia High School, now Zane Trace High School, in 1953. On March 9, 1973, he married his wife Dorothy Louise Adams in Green Cove Springs, Florida.  Roger was employed for many years, until retirement, as a supervisor at Buckeye Steel Castings, now Worthington Industries, in Columbus, Ohio. He and his family were residents for many years of Ashville, Ohio.  Roger was an avid reader, a lover of history, enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns, and listening to country music, especially George Jones. He was also an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers football teams and most Saturdays and Sundays he could be found watching the games with family.

Most of all, Roger enjoyed spending time with family; his children and grandchildren were a great source of pride and accomplishment.  Roger dearly loved his extended family as well and though he couldn’t travel to visit them in his later years, they were always in his thoughts and he wanted his family to stay connected.

Roger was a source of unlimited patience, love, and encouragement to those that knew him.  His gentle smile, soft-spoken nature, friendly advice, strong work ethic, and steadfast faith, are just a few of the qualities that defined his life.  Although he will be greatly missed, we are so very thankful for the long life that he lived and shared with us all.

Roger is survived by his wife Dorothy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his sisters Norma Jean Fosnaugh of Circleville, Ohio and Linda Riggs of Bowling Green, Ohio; his sons, Roger and wife Linda of Chillicothe, Ohio, Marcus of Chillicothe, Ohio, Jason and his wife Beda of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Anthony Frye of Dacula, GA; his daughters Vicki and her husband Ron Ratcliff, Teresa Adams, and Wanda and her husband Gordon Franklin, of Chillicothe, Ohio; his grandchildren, Rob, Ronnie, Jackie, Roger, Arissa, Justin, Jessica, Beda Lane, Waylon, and Ruby; and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Lula, and sisters Ruby Hinton, Janice Blankenship, and Dorothy Liebe.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the HILL FUNERAL HOME, Kingston. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Kingston. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Hills. Condolences can be made on Roger's online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
