Vance Alfred Mace, 65, of Adelphi, passed from this life on September 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born, in Circleville, on November 3, 1951, the son of the late Alfred and Mary Louise (Greeno) Mace. He was a 1970 graduate of Zane Trace High School.

Vance is survived by his sisters, Connie Unger, of Adelphi, Karen Mace, of Kingston, and Sharon (Gary) Wertman, of Laurelville; niece, Cassidy Wertman; nephews, Bradley (Amie) Unger, and Tyler (Ashley) Wertman; great-nephew, Braxton Unger; great-nieces, Elizabeth and Josephine Wertman; and certainly his “special crew” back at the “man cave.”

Vance was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Gladys Greeno and John and Arthrelia Mace. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and mushroom hunter. He loved spending time with his niece and nephews as well as the great outdoors. Vance was a hard worker and spent 41 years of his life working at the Dale Riddle Forrest Products.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland of Chillicothe as well as Heartland Hospice. A special thank you to Stacia Bauman for her love and support during this time.

Vance was a close dear friend and my buddy at the Paints baseball games. Matt and I went with Vance for the picnic at the Paints put on by the Adena Cancer Center. It was a great night. Vance had went to smoke and while he was out, someone hit a foul ball out of the park and Vance was thrilled to bring it back in and give it to me. I will treasure it and remember that night always. It was one of our many adventures! Rest easy my dear friend, until we meet again!
